1 month - a little late!

I am a little late for our 1 month post! Sorry - it is a little crazy with a new baby!!!

We were scheduled to go to Creeden’s 1 month well baby check up on Tuesday but he was sick so we went on Monday. He has a lower respiratory infection and the draining mucus is causing him to projectile vomit. He got checked for RSV and it was negative and since he wasn’t dehydrated and was gaining weight she said he is ok. We just have to wait it out and let it heal. We have to sit in the bathroom with the hot shower going to let the steam break up the stuff in his chest and use saline drops and the nasal aspirator as often as we can. Also we are feeding him less but more often to help his tummy not be too upset.

We went ahead and did his well checkup other than the shot (she didn’t want to make him feel worse so we will do it at the 2 month appointment). He weighed in at 10lbs and 12oz! He is 22.5 inches long! He being the weight he is really helped her not be concerned with the throw up (and his constant spit up) since he is obviously keeping something down!!! She called him little piggy because he always wants to eat! He is for sure getting little fat rolls but with him being so long it really has been evened out so far.

Facts about him at 1 month (now 5.5 weeks):

He loves to eat and takes about 3.5oz every 2 – 2.5 hours.

He loves his pacifier.

He loves taking baths.

He loves going in the car (Our secret weapon to get him to sleep)

He loves music

He is VERY strong and can hold his head up for a bit and also roll almost to his side

He hates to sleep and will fight it as long as he can.

He has shown lots of Colic signs and the pediatrician had us get a book called “Happiest baby on the block” which talks about ways to help Colic babies. So far (we haven’t read the whole book yet) it is helping us some. We are swaddling him when he sleeps and we have a ‘womb sound’ cd that plays all night. We started that a few nights ago and he has slept almost 5 hours straight a few times (which is a miracle – it was 2-3 hours). He is learning how to break out of our swaddle so that breaks him sleeping but we ordered another kind that should make it so he cannot get out! We are still trying to learn how to calm him when he gets to his very fussy point and right now the car ride is what works the best.

He is without a doubt the most beautiful/handsome little baby boy we have ever seen. He is alert a lot of the time and I love just looking at is big eyes. He has smiled a few times and it is the sweetest (as you can see in the pictures below!)! He is losing a little bit of his hair but he is cute even going bald! He changes so much every day. When I wake up I just stare at him while he eats and just am amazed a how much he has grown and changed during the night.

We are not sure what we did before him! He is such a joy and I still cannot believe we have been trusted with this little life. He keeps us entertained, busy and tired but we would not have it any other way!
